Friday is my time to blog and write since most of my time is occupied with school and family related duties.
Heidi wrote a very informative post on writing WFH cover letters. It is very specific and to the point - very useful for someone like me who still trying to learn all that she can. I noticed that my last WFH cover letter was not specific enough and didn't get right to the point as Heidi writes. Writers need to get straight to the point, even in cover letters.
I also realized that I wrote only one WFH cover letter that was intended for those markets that needed a curriculum and lesson plan freelance writer.
I have written my own readers from simple phonetic to more complex skills for the remedial classes I teach. Over the last five years, my library has grown to include various ESL curriculum and lesson plans. I connect well to the phonetic approach of teaching. It is structured yet flexible enough to build an interactive storyline. So I spent a good part of Friday morning today expanding my repetoire of cover letter files to meet writing leveled readers and editing the last reader I wrote.
In light of the spiritual and emotional healing that I am going through, I had a good eye-to-eye talk with my inner self. A voice told me to put the semi-obnoxious and self-critical editor away in the lavender, and to believe in my abilities as a writer. After reading this morning's cover letter I wrote from the perspective of an editor, I decided I liked it. It sounded profesional. It looked good. It made me feel good. That hasn't happened with me much in the past.
