It's amazing.. One would think that I would have meety ideas for writing childrens' stories since I am a mother to an active toddler and teacher children. But unfortunately that hasn't been the case...until recently. I always have ideas but just haven't gotten used to writing any of them down. It's a bad habit I have until Suzanne Lieurance's blog made me think differently. After especially reading the entry on how to write for children from the webiste writing for Children Center, I realized what I needed to do to turn my ideas into a working story. It was quite helpful. I'm always pressed for time so I opened a word document for ideas just to get into the habit. My son constantly gives me new ideas so I need to be on my toes. Once in a while, I'll look at the ideas and see if I can create a story line with a message.
her blog is chock full of inspiratinal words, coaching advice, newletters, ebooks and many wonderful links. When I'm ready to start devoting more time to marketing the child's writing side of myself, I believe I'll join SCWBI. For me the membership isn't cheap, but I think it's well worth it if that is your writing venue, as it will be mine one day since I always have a passion for understanding a child and have been told how well I connect with them, especially toddler and pres-school age. So, this is definitely an inspiration.
